Lynn Weaver Boyle is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office. Ms. Weaver Boyle began her career as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in 1990. From 1990 until 1999, Ms. Weaver Boyle was assigned to the Narcotics Unit of the Special Prosecutions Bureau, the Felony Trial Division, and the Gang Crimes Unit of the Special Prosecutions Bureaus within the States Attorney’s Office. During that time, she supervised numerous criminal investigations and tried hundreds of felony cases, including over 50 felony jury trials.
In 1999, Ms. Weaver Boyle left the State’s Attorney’s Office to concentrate her practice in the area of civil litigation. Her practice includes extensive trial work and focuses on general and commercial litigation with an emphasis on large loss property subrogation, construction defects and product liability matters. Ms. Weaver Boyle has also represented individuals and insurance industry clients in large catastrophic losses stemming from wildland interface fires.
Ms. Weaver Boyle’s practice has taken her to jurisdictions throughout the United States where she has represented subrogating insurers, corporations and individuals in obtaining favorable settlements and judgments. She has personally conducted and supervised countless loss site investigations. The coordination of these investigations include site visitation, the retention of qualified experts, the identification and notification of third party wrongdoers and the preservation of evidence, all which are crucial to the successful prosecution of a claim.
In addition to her trial work, Ms. Weaver Boyle has also successfully presented argument before the Supreme Court of Ohio in the case Allstate Insurance Company v. CEI, Case No. 07-0452. That case established guidelines for determining whether a negligence claim against a utility company can be brought in the Court of Common Pleas or must be presented before the Public Utility Commission of Ohio. Ms. Weaver Boyle is also an adjunct professor at the Northwestern University School of Law where she teaches Trial Advocacy.
